Flow Error Policies (Magic xpi 4.9)

The Error Policies repository lets you set the error policy for a specific error code or a range of error codes. The error policy determines what Magic xpi does when an error occurs. For more information on handling errors in Magic xpi, see Errors.

To set an error policy for a range of errors:

  1. Open the Error Policies repository by double-clicking on Error Policies under the relevant flow in the Solution Explorer.

  1. Click Add to add a line where you can add the error policy for a range of errors.

  2. Click the button to the right of the From column to open the Errors Repository.

  1. Select an error entry that you want as the start of your range and then click OK. When you do this, the Component column displays the name of the component that belongs to the selected error.

  2. Click the button to the right of the To column to open the Errors Repository and select an error entry you want at the end of your error range. Click OK.

If you want to set the policy for one error code only, enter the same number in the To column as you entered in the From column.

The To column is available even if the From column has not been set. In this case, all errors up to the To error code are available in the error policy.

  1. In the Description column you can enter a name for your selection.

  2. From the Error Policy list you can select the error-handling action you want the Server to execute when the flow returns the error codes you selected in your error range. The options are: Abort, Ignore, Restart Flow, Retry, and Jump.

  3. If you selected Jump as the Error Policy, the Step column becomes available. Click the button to the right of the Step column to open the Step List window, then select the step that the flow execution should jump to.

  4. In the Notification column you can select a messaging action for the Server to perform when the error occurs. The options are: Mail, or No action. When you select Mail, an email notification will be sent to the administrator recipient. (The email address is set in the Send Error Email To project property.)

  5. Click Save to save your policy.

If you do not want to use the policy you entered, close the Error Policies repository without saving your work.

To delete an error policy for a range of errors:

  1. Click anywhere in the row that contains the error policy that you want to delete.

  2. Click Delete.
